A holistic approach to recovery ...
Mindful Recovery and Wellness is Raya Healthcare‘s newest division which focuses purely on mental health supports. Our aim is to provide a bridge between mainstream community supports and NDIS supports, ensuring each individual has the beneficial supports in place to have the best chance of working towards recovery.
We recognise that everyone’s journey to recovery is different and unique, which involves more than working on reduction of medically based symptoms. That’s why we focus on a whole-person approach, that’s centred on each individual. In order to achieve this, we offer various activities and programs, such as art therapy, one-on-one support, and personal retreats, to help people feel connected, purposeful, and fulfilled.
Mindful Recovery and Wellness has been built upon the 6 NDIS principles
-
Supporting personal recovery
We support personal recovery by ensuring our approach is always participant centred and individualised to your personal needs and supports. -
Valuing lived experience
The Mindful Recovery and Wellness division has been developed on the grounds of lived experience. With a workforce of individuals with lived experience, we aware of how to best relate to, and support, individuals workforce both working towards recovery, but also experiencing periods of mental health crisis. -
NDIS and mental health services working together
We are working closely with mainstream community supports, such as hospitals and community centres to ensure we bridge the gap between mainstream and NDIS supports. This ensures less gaps in service provision, a continuation of care and a collaborative approach to support, to promote the best outcomes possible for participants. -
Supporting informed decision making
By providing a participant centred approach and working alongside other professionals we ensure participants feel informed about their rights, educated on the services available to them and empower them to therefore make informed decision making about their care and recovery. -
Being responsive to the episodic and fluctuating nature of psychosocial disability
By ensuring our team have relevant mental health experience, as well as lived experience, we thoroughly understand the episodic and fluctuating nature of psychosocial disability, also acknowledging that recovery is not linear and therefore amending and adapting our approach to supports in accordance. -
A strong NDIS recovery-oriented and trauma informed workforce
We are dedicated to ensuring our internal workforce are well equipped to understand the NDIS recovery-oriented framework, as well as providing a trauma informed approach when required. We are dedicated to regularly upskilling and refreshing our knowledge within these domains, as well as mental health first aid refreshers and suicide prevention training refreshers.
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
Our Psychosocial Recovery Coaches are equipped with both professional and lived experience. This provides them with the ability to identify and tailor supports to your preferences, allowing you to feel empowered and work towards achieving your recovery-oriented goals.
Our Psychosocial Recovery Coaches will work closely and in collaboration with your supports and care team, both within the NDIS and mainstream services to achieve the best possible outcomes for you. Alongside your treating team, we will develop recovery plans that focus on your goals and what steps our recovery coaches can take to enable you in achieving these whilst increasing your independence, decision making skills and integration into your community and social circles.
Group Programs
We are now facilitating programs and classes that aim to improve emotional wellbeing, increase social participation and decrease social anxiety and isolation. Our aim for these classes is to be a safe space for individuals to have time to themselves, in a safe environment where they can make positive connections.
These include:
Art therapy:
Our art therapy classes will be facilitated in group settings within the community, or can be tailored to 1:1 session, within your home with qualified art therapists. Our art therapy sessions will be self-paced and intuitive to promote self-imagination, emotional release and strength development. These can be done on a casual basis to provide flexibility and accessibility for all.
Meditation and mindfulness workshops:
Our meditation and mindfulness workshops will run both within community group settings or on a 1:1 basis. Each session will target and build on different areas within meditation and the practice of mindfulness. Each session will look different, incorporating things such as breathwork, journaling, and prompting exercises to ensure there is something appropriate and meaningful for each person who attends.
Individualised Retreats/Respite
We will be running personalised retreats and group retreats within areas that improve
Access Advisory Support
Our access advisory team will work alongside participant’s pre-existing community mental health team, such as psychiatrists, mental health case managers and triage teams. We will do this to gather the required diagnostic evidence required to assist with then applying for NDIS access and provide support along the application journey.
